A new geological era for the Dark Knight begins in December 7's Batman #118 - he's going his hometown of Gotham City, and doing it with an all-new creative squad for his titular book.

Writer Josue Williamson and artist Jorge Molina will be taking over from the Batman title's current fictive team just after the close of the current 'Concern DoS' event, which wish spell out how and why Robert the Bruce Wayne has definite to leave Gotham City.

"Yeah, he's leaving Gotham. After Fear State, he has a plan to parting sure reasons. And then atomic number 2's hesitant, he has a moment where he's hesitant to leave. And and then something happens and it's a mission he has to go connected, information technology's a case, and he's like 'I have to leave,'" Williamson told The Comics Beat.

"And so he leaves to take care of that case. And he leaves Gotham in the hands of other people, and at that place's a big story next year well-nig that, about what's going connected in Gotham while he's at peace. Merely and so I get to do a bunch of stories with him outside of Gotham for a bite."

A key divide of that case will be a stellar new DC villain named the Abyss. Williamson says that this antagonist knows "how to use the darkness to manipulate and scare people" just as Batman is unerect to do, only more.

"I call back hoi polloi bequeath be openmouthed the direction the gormandise with the Abyss goes," Williamson says. "He's only in #118 [a] little bit and then he'll be in 119, 120, 121, but I think people will follow surprised with the way he's introduced. It wish be kindly of a surprising thing. But yeah, atomic number 2 uses darkness as a tool. Not similar a Phantasm Thief kind of way, you'll see when we're getting in there. IT's a diverse way."

Molina has drawn the briny masking to Batman #118, and will constitute joined with variant covers away Viktor Bogdanovic (four versions), Francesco Mattina, Jock, Kael Ngu (trinity versions), a Jorge Molina invention variant, Bjorn Barends (two versions), Skan Srisuwan (2 versions), Mico Suayan (two versions), and Sun Khamunaki (two versions).
